Study shows trigger point therapy helps increase range of motion

Soleus Trigger Points  In my practice I've often been amazed at the rapidity in which clients experience relief with trigger point therapy. When applied directly, pain they've been experiencing causing limited range of motion are often relieved significantly after just one session.

To that end I thought I'd post an interesting study conducted in January 2011 by the Journal of Bodywork & Movement Therapies indicating how trigger point therapy applied to the soleus (part of the calf) muscle helped increase ankle dorsiflexion. Why is this helpful?

For those recovering from an ankle sprain or experiencing recurring cramping that's affecting your training, trigger point therapy can help speed up your recovery.

"This study has indicated that a single treatment of [trigger-point pressure release] has shown an immediate, significant increase in active ankle dorsiflexion".
